Although Strategic Alliances can be every day occurrences as exemplified by joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, the term also includes technology transfer, licensing agreements and other strategic arrangements. The matching process is undertaken with the permission of both parties and can be initiated at either end of the spectrum. For instance, a local firm can identify a need to enter into a new market and seek a partner in that market with excess manufacturing capability, or vice versa. |
